We look up four public DNS records (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and explain what each one means for your mail. Nothing is saved.
1Why these records matter
- MX tells the world where to deliver mail for your domain.
- SPF lists the servers allowed to send as you.
- DKIM adds a signature to every message so receivers know it wasn't changed or forged.
- DMARC tells receivers what to do with mail that fails those checks. It is what stops fake invoices sent in your company's name.
Since 2024, Gmail and Yahoo reject or junk mail from bulk senders without SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and treat everyone else's unauthenticated mail with more suspicion.
